Have you had a great surf somewhere in EUROPE?

From February to May 2019, LEARN 2 SURF will be touring the West Coast of Europe - looking for the safest beaches for beginner surfers - and signing up some new LEARN 2 SURF Members / Surf Schools along the way.

The European surf school scene is very well established. The Atlantic / West Coast towns (of Portugal, Northern Spain and France) receive far more regular and consistent swells (in comparison to the Mediterranean coast) making it the more famous / popular surfing destination. (Note: popular = crowds)

Our mission at LEARN 2 SURF is to help beginner surfers find the safest beaches to surf at - and to introduce you to the most legit coaches in those locations - but this is not as easy as you think! (Not even Google can help us here..)

Many 'famous' or well known surf towns have grown so much in popularity over the years, that they can be no longer considered as 'safe' surf spots for beginner surfers.

This is also true for many of the older, well established surf schools in these towns. Their businesses have grown to such an extent (in many cases due to the popularity of their location and massive increase of surfing popularity in general) that they can't keep up with demand. As a result, they fail to provide their clients the level of service they should be adhering to - as stipulated by various international governing surfing bodies.

Some problems they experience are: Having too many clients per coach; their surfing gear gets damaged faster than they can fix it; they're forced to hire un-qualified coaches because they're focussed on quantity not quality; they have so many clients to coach they need to coach them in un-safe conditions (this can be extremely dangerous!)

Just because a surf school looks well established (online or at the beach) does not mean they operate in an acceptable way.

Their reputations may seem well established, as they've been around for many years and have coached thousands of clients.. But! Chat to some of the local surfers in that area and they'll probably steer you away from these 'factory-like' surf schools, to an instructor or surf school who will give you a far better (and safer) introduction to surfing.. to a surf school like LEARN 2 SURF !

Plan your dream South African road trip from Cape Town to Durban (or the other way around) making your way across spectacular scenery, bush to bush, and beach to beach!

You may book all your lessons for each town in advance - or go-with-the-flow and book as you travel. If you contact us a few days in advance we can advise which days and times will be the best in each location - and give you tips on other things to do in the area.

Muizenberg Surf Report

LEARN 2 SURF in Cape Town sends out a surf report for Muizenberg Beach every Monday and Thursday morning.

The surf report is designed/written for beginner surfers - using as few complicated weather terms and jargon as possble.
